Tribal Membership:

The Varnertown Indian people have traced their lineage to eight different bloodlines. The members of the Wassamasaw Tribe of Varnertown Indians are all bloodline descendants of at least one of these Native family lineages. Each bloodline has a unique but a shared and related history that have created and comprised our tribal community. The lineal lines are Broad, Burbage, Clark, Dangerfield, Driggers, Huff, Varner and Williams.

To be a member, please submit an application package by clicking the Application Forms in the side bar.

A non-refundable fee of $25.00 USD (cash/credit/debit) must be submitted with your membership application. You can also use the PayPal link located on the site, to pay your application fee. If you choose to enroll by mail, send a money order addressed to the Wassamasaw Tribe of Varnertown Indians with the membership application and required attachments. Personal checks are not accepted. Upon acceptance, a certification letter will be mailed or e-mailed to you.

· If linked in, the enrollment fee includes your FIRST Tribal ID card.

   (Cards are issued twice a year: January 15th and July 15th)

· Renewing your Tribal ID card after yearly expiration will be $25. Replacing a lost card will be $10.

· Renewal of Cards for enrolled senior members (65 and older) are free of charge

A completed application can take up to 90 days to process so please keep that in mind when determining your card issuance date based on the above timelines. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Falsified information will be grounds for denial of enrollment.

In order to start your application process please submit the following items:

1. A Completed Application
2. A Completed Genealogy Chart:

(Please note that if you or your parents are not on our rolls we will need you to provide documentation up to the Native American ancestor. This can include: Parents/ Grandparents long form birth certificates showing parentage, or copies of census records showing the familial connection.)

3. A Copy of Your Long Form Birth Certificate (Obtained from the Department of Vital
Statistics, if you do not have an available copy)

4. A head shot of yourself for your Tribal Card along with a copy of your DL or State ID (Digital pictures can be emailed to membership@wassamasawtribe.onmicrosoft.com)
5. Application Fee: Submit a money order of $25 for the processing of your application or you can pay online via Paypal Link at the bottom of the page. Please put in NEW into the Enrollment # field if paying electronically.

Once we receive the listed items and confirmed your eligibility for enrollment, we will mail you a Tribal Welcome Package as well as your Tribal Card and Enrollment number.

RENEWALS:

Memberships are renewed beginning August 1st each year to correspond with our fiscal calendar. If the renewal time frame is missed there will be a $10 late fee after October 1st each year. Tribal elders who are 65 years and older do not pay an annual renewal.  Tribal elders are issued permanent tribal cards that do not expire. To renew, either mail your renewal fee along with your tribal number and any upates to your address to the Tribal Mailbox, or use the PayPal link on this page to pay online. Place your Tribal Number in the field provided and in the note field advise of any updates to your address. Renewed cards will be mailed to you before the expiration date on your current card.
