The Etiwan Singers

The Etiwan Swamp Shakers With The Wassamasaw Drum is a group from the State Recognized Wassamasaw Tribe of Varnertown indians. Their goal is to help preserve and maintain Native American culture and promote it through teaching others traditional singing and drumming techniques.

The beginnings of the Tribal drum with Edmond Ray Varner.

Native drum ceremonies are very important to the Native American people and have always been an expression of our heritage and beliefs. In the past, these ceremonies were a regular part of life, depicting in ritual style the many facets of Native spirituality.

Today these traditions exist for the same reasons and are an important way for native people to stay in touch with not only each other, but also our roots.

For inquiries about joining The Etiwan Swamp Shakers or their availability please contact the tribal secretary: Joshuashumak@gmail.com

Please Note: Due to Covid, The Etiwan Swamp Shakers will not be performing until further notice.
